Yes, the FDA approved the immunotherapy drug nadofaragene firadenovec (Anktiva) in April 2022 for treating BCG-unresponsive non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. Studies found it improved outcomes compared to BCG alone, with 58% of patients having no signs of bladder cancer 1 year after treatment when used together with BCG. The approval means the drug should now be available for eligible patients, though access and coverage may vary by health system. You could inquire with your doctor or Kaiser specifically whether they plan to include Anktiva as a treatment option for BCG-unresponsive cases.
